If I choose slug pellets, how should I use them?
If they are used, only use the right amount, in the right place at the right time. Always check the label for full instructions but you only need to use a small amount.
Right amount. This is just 3 to 5 metaldehyde-based pellets across an area the equivalent size of an A4 piece of paper. Only put slug pellets around the plants you need to protect and they should only be used when slugs and/or plant damage is seen.
Right place. Pellets should only be applied sparingly WHERE there are slugs or snails and signs of plant damage. Keep away from hard surfaces, water and watercourses and never leave in heaps.
Bury spillages covering pellets with soil.
As with all garden control products, store slug pellets securely, in a dry place, away from children, pets, food, drink and animal feed.
Only dispose of packs when completely empty – if you have garden control products that need to be disposed of please visit gardenchemicaldisposal.co.uk to find your local disposal site.
Right time. Only apply slug pellets WHEN you see slugs or snails and / or plant damage. Slug activity is usually at its peak during damp and warm evenings, particularly following rainfall.
